Meet a few of the Zambian GEMS Clubs

As of April 2008 – 28 GEMS Clubs are meeting in Zambia. Currently, three years worth of curriculum has been produced for these clubs, and a new tool has been developed to use with the youngest girls. Here is a brief look at four of these clubs…

Apostolic Faith Mission – Ndola

Apostolic Faith Mission in Ndola meets every Saturday morning. This club has a lot of younger girls and is excited to utilize the new curriculum for this age group which employs a Story Scarf full of images to teach girls lessons from both the New and Old Testaments. Girls also use coloring pages to help them retell the stories they learn.

Jesus Army Club

Jesus Army

The third year of curriculum includes a badge that focuses on God’s plan and incorporates team sports as the practical life skill. The girls at Jesus Army are excited to take advantage of the new soccer balls they received that are produced in the same colors associated with telling the salvation story.

Brethren in Christ – Ndola

Of the 78 different tribes in Zambia, almost 30 are represented in the Brethren in Christ/Ndola GEMS Club. While working on the cooking badge, girls took turn bringing in a recipe unique to their tribe and preparing and sharing it for the other girls. This club is looking forward to completing the worship badge this coming season and experiencing the different dance/worship styles of their different tribes, too!

Reginah at Mtendere Baptist Church

Mtendere Baptist Church

Reginah is the newly trained Club Coordinator for Mtendere Baptist Church. After hearing about GEMS she decided to visit several clubs in her area. It didn’t take long before she was hooked and knew she wanted to start a club at her church, too. Reginah is enthusiastic and ready to begin sharing God’s love with the girls at Mtendere Baptist Church.
